April 29 2012 Newport GC Club Champions Tournament postponed

The inaugural GC Club Champions Tournament had to be postponed at the last minute because of adverse weather conditions and flooded courts. The revised date is Sunday 8th July.

April 28 - 6 May 2012 Adelaide, Australia AC World Championships

Colchester member, second seed and 5 times previous World Champion Robert Fulford made it comfortably through the block stage of the tournament with 9 wins out of 9, but was then beaten in the second round of the knockout section by Marcus Evans (Bristol & Nailsea). The eventual winner was Reg Bamford of South Africa, retaining the title he won in 2009 in Palm Beach, Florida, which made it his fourth world title.

Ipswich member Mark Avery, drawn in the same block as Robert Fulford, did not make it through to the knockout stage but instead progressed into the Plate competition where he won his Plate block with 4 wins out of 4. He then went on to win the Plate knockout, beating Trevor Bassett of Australia in the final.
